As PhD students, you spend years developing research skills by attending conferences, working closely with a supervisor, taking data analysis courses, etc. But how much preparation and support do you have before stepping into the classroom to teach?

In order to support you in the significant teaching contribution you make, we have designed the following course: Teaching Science at University is a pragmatic science pedagogy course for early-career university instructors and PhD students. It focuses on the core concepts and teaching skills one needs to transform and repackage one’s expertise in a subject matter into effective, engaging learning experiences for university students.

The course is available anytime as a free, 5-week MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) on the platform Coursera, requiring about 2 hours of work per week. You can also take a credit-bearing version of the course in which we blend in-person sessions at the Irchel campus with online learning. To sign up for the MOOC, go to: coursera teaching science. To sign up for the blended course, do so through the Life Sciences Zurich Graduate School on this webpage. If you have any questions, please contact sara.petchey@uzh.ch
