TREP, the TRansposable Elements Platform

Superfamily Penelope                   RPP

Full classification: Retrotransposon, LTR, Penelope

Penelope elements are Class 1 transposons.

They are poorly charactreised. Were found supposedly found in animals, plants, fungi and some other eukaryotes. Upon insertion, they create a variable bp Target site duplication (TSD).
